Classification of air transport

America is a currant state located on the continent of North America. The country occupies almost half of the continent. Timely delivery of raw materials and finished products across such a large country plays an important role in the American economy. Naturally, the fastest way is by air transport. Transportation companies perform air cargo shipments across the U.S. of any volume.

Types of air transport
Before we discuss classification of air transport, we must define its exact definition. Air transport ─ is the aircraft supported in the atmospheric layers due to their interaction with the air. The classifier, a system for designating vehicles, distinguishes such transport, which is heavier or lighter than air, and differs in the type of engine, as well as the purpose:

airplanes;
helicopters (helicopters);
gliders;
balloons and dirigibles;
rotorcraft.

However, now the rolling stock of air transport companies’ fleets mainly consists of airplanes and helicopters. Of course, air freight is the most expensive way of transporting cargo, but its speed increases the profitability of operations in logistics, as well as saves time and facilitates work.

The greatest consumer demand is for air transport, which is produced by such well-known companies as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, McDonnel Douglas, Sikorsky, Leonardo Helicopters. However, aircrafts of American manufacturers are also used by logistics companies of our country for air cargo transportation in many countries of the world.

Advantages of air freight over other types of logistic operations
Advantages of air cargo delivery, especially during the pandemic of coronavirus infection COVID-19, are obvious. During the transportation of cargo and passengers by air, fewer personnel are involved, which reduces the risk of disease. Of course, the cost of delivery by air is much higher than by land transport because of the high consumption and price of fuel needed to fuel aircraft, but the main advantage of air freight – the speed of delivery to hard-to-reach places, overrides this disadvantage.

Among the advantages of air transport can also include a high degree of safety, because according to statistics, the air transport is less exposed to the risk of accidents. Therefore, now air cargo transportations are in high consumer demand, because of the possibility of rapid delivery of perishable goods. Summarizing the above about the types and classification of air transport, we can define the main advantages of air cargo transportation:

speed of execution of the order;
delivery of cargo to hard-to-reach locations at any distance;
high safety of transportation;
guarantee of cargo safety is higher than in other types of logistic operations.
